The Bruno Mathsson Prize 2015 has been awarded to Claesson Koivisto Rune.
Mårten Cleasson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune began their collaboration on their first day at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, in Stockholm. With their final year examination work, they emphasized the interplay between architecture, spatiality and the design of objects.
Since then, they have continually refined their design philosophy, searching for its essence by developing connections between function and aesthetics. A process of refinement that also contains an element of humour. With their numerous and wide-ranging international commissions, Claesson Koivisto Rune has an important role in focusing interest in contemporary Swedish design.
The Bruno Mathsson Prize will be presented on August 29th at a ceremony at the Vandalorum Centre for Art and Design, in Värnamo. The ceremony also marks the opening of an exhibition about the work of Claesson Koivisto Rune, at Vandalorum.
