Bovisa: university campus outdoor areas
Botree, the outdoor lamp that pays homage to trees
Bovisa, in the northern suburbs of Milan and once home to city gasholders, is now the site of Bovisa University. The campus was expanded significantly, when Milan Polytechnic in partnership with local authorities, commissioned complete refurbishment and redevelopment of the district with their 1998 international competition. Ferrara Palladino & Associati came up with an outdoor lighting design for the old Broggi site, installing multiple lamps for exteriors. Botree, “the tree of Bovisa”, tells a story in itself. The stylized tree-inspired design was conceived for this project and FontanaArte snapped it up immediately for their catalogue.
