He obtained his degree in Architecture from the University of Florence in 1996, with a thesis in Industrial Design. Once graduated, he spent time living in Amsterdam, where he worked in conjunction with a design studio on lighting fixtures and lighting design for large areas.
He now lives and works in Milan, where his research and interests vary between architecture, design and communication.
He has worked in collaboration with Studio Cerri e Associati and the studio of Ivana Porfiri on the design of yacht interiors, art galleries, layouts and private homes.
Merendi lectures at Milan’s Scuola Politecnica di Design (SPD) and has liaised with some of the most prestigious design companies. In 2007, he designed the Toobo series of lamps for FontanaArte, which can be used indoors as well as outdoors.
