Franco Raggi designs Velo: less is definitely more
A slim, almost ethereal sheet of suspended glass supported by aluminium clamps hooked onto steel wire ties. The line is minimal: a rectangular screen with sandblasted glass at the centre to prevent glare. This material − the chemically-tempered glass used for spaceship nosecones − is special, very tough but weightless, and so flexible it can be bent by hand. The concept behind Velo was to subtract weight, matter and form to achieve an aesthetic result of painstaking stylistic consistency.
