Nobi: another design that combines maximum functionality with decorative style.
The path opened in the early 1970s by the Castiglioni’s Scintilla system continued to grow twenty years later with the Nobi system, designed by Studio Metis. A chrome-plated or satin-finished metal ring and a circular diffuser made of a pair of stamped, frosted, and tempered glass discs: two essential elements hiding a complex system. The two concave glass discs are held in place by a system of small clamps and attached to the metal frame with two pins—the same pins on which the light bulb is mounted. This allows the diffuser to rotate on itself and thus direct the intense light beam from the halogen source in different directions. The use of a reflector, applied to one side of the diffuser, enables additional effects: by directing the light beam towards the wall or ceiling, Nobi becomes an indirect lighting system. Innovative and available in floor, wall, and pendant versions, Nobi guarantees maximum functionality while maintaining decorative elements in its design.

FontanaArte Acquires Candle and Embraces New Design Languages
The company had just turned sixty. It had already written significant chapters in the history of contemporary design, and the FontanaArte brand had become internationally recognized as a benchmark of excellence in lighting. It was time for a new chapter—to engage more deeply with younger generations.
With this vision, in 1992 FontanaArte acquired Candle and transformed it into a division of the company, dedicated to developing a collection aimed at a younger audience. Candle’s projects were entrusted to emerging designers, embracing new design languages, innovative materials, and production processes. The resulting products entered the market with high quality standards at more accessible price points.
