FontanaArte, 90 Years of Light and Art
Extraordinary Milan Design Week 2022 for FontanaArte
Extraordinary Milan Design Week 2022 for FontanaArte, founded in Milan in 1932, which celebrated its 90th anniversary by dedicating it to the city, to design enthusiasts and professionals who flocked there for the occasion. The world's best-loved design event is back this year, after a long and difficult period of absence, more effervescent and exciting than ever, and FontanaArte is among the protagonists of the scene.
At Via San Marco 26, the location chosen and set up especially for the occasion, the FontanaArte 90 Years of Light and Art project was staged with “Arte”, which Gio Ponti himself wanted to add to the company's name, always present as the brand's identity value.
A hub of art, history and contemporaneity.
A photographic exhibition realised by photographer Roselena Ramistella, in partnership with ZERO, with which FontanaArte wanted to pay homage to its city - Milan - through portraits of people who, with their profession, art, social commitment and talent, give light to the city of design.
The historical archive unveiled with a film: Archive. The Secret Light and the presentation of the Digital Caveau, a platform where it is possible to visit the FontanaArte archive brought back to light through a work of recovery, cataloguing and digitisation of the materials that tell the story of the brand. The physical presence of some wonderful original pieces from the 1930s and 1950s provided by Cambi Auction House, a partner in the installation, was a natural complement to the part dedicated to the company's history.
Present and future of the brand are represented by new projects: FRENESI, a glass and metal wall lamp designed specifically for FontanaArte by director Luca Guadagnino; the TUTTI chandelier by Matilde Cassani; THEA, a family of lamps by Oscar and Gabriele Buratti; the OORT modular system by Jacopo Roda.
FontanaArte is part of the Special Register of Historical Trademarks of National Interest, established by the Ministry of Economic Development, created to protect and enhance historically Made in Italy manufacturing enterprises of excellence.
