FontanaArte presents a preview of the prestigious 2015 collection at ICFF May 16 through 19, at no. 45 Greene Street, in the heart of New York’s ‘design district’.
A collection in the vanguard both technically and aesthetically, born out of partnerships with world-renowned designers such as Karim Rashid, a new partner who will be a special guest at the inaugural event on Saturday May 16th.
The vast 2015 collection is the best possible interpretation of the FontanaArte philosophy of creating objects which are technologically advanced, beautiful and practical, centering on users and how they coexist with lighting. The focus is on LED lights: lamps intended for contract/hospitality, retail, office and residential use. Two task lights worthy of note are Karim Rashid’s Kinx and Odo Fioravanti’s Volée, with their high-tech connotations for total light management.
Use of glass marks a return to the company’s roots, given an original touch by the creativity of Matti Klenell, Marcello Ziliani, Giorgio Biscaro and Sebastian Herkner. FontanaArte was established in 1932 as the artistic division of a glassmaking company, and the company is now returning to use of glass as the key to its designs after experimenting with different materials. The new lamps by Carlo Colombo, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Giulio Iacchetti and Matteo Nunziati interpret the best of contemporary design to underline elegant, charming spaces and meeting the most original lighting requirements in architecture.
The New York showroom, renovated to plans by architects Fabio Calvi and Paolo Brambilla, represents this world of elegance and lightness, a warm, cosy house in which to enjoy the beauty of light and designer furnishings together. A space linking the past with the future through lights and objects born out of the creativity of some of the biggest names in design and architecture. A sign of continuity, a place that interprets the FontanaArte philosophy of the true light of a beautiful home.
